About National Bike Month in the Alamo Region
Established in 1956 by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to give biking a try. The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) has coordinated National Bike Month programming for the greater San Antonio area since 2018. In each year since, hundreds of participants have turned out for National Bike Month events like Bike to Work Day, the Bike Beat festival and Street Skills classes. Before that, AAMPO hosted the Walk & Roll Rally, in conjunction with regional transportation partners, held annually in the spring for over two decades.
Bike to Work Day
AAMPO is celebrating Bike to Work Day (BTWD) on Friday, May 17, 2024!
BTWD encourages everyone to hop on a bike and bike to work. At early morning BTWD energizer stations, we thank cyclists for biking to work. Energizer stations will provide cyclists with educational materials, breakfast items, and the chance to win some cool prizes on their morning commute!
Since 2018, BTWD in the greater San Antonio area has reached hundreds of cyclists! BTWD has been a great success thanks in part to generous support from many of our community partners.
