What is the TPB?
The Transportation Policy Board (TPB) is the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO) policy board or board of directors. The TPB is comprised of fourteen elected and seven appointed officials representing the Advanced Transportation District, Bexar County, Comal County, City of Boerne, City of San Antonio, City of Seguin, Guadalupe County, Greater Bexar County Council of Cities, Northeast Partnership, Texas Department of Transportation, and VIA Metropolitan Transit.
The purpose of the TPB is to oversee the continuous, comprehensive, and cooperative transportation planning process conducted for the metropolitan area. The TPB must approve all transportation projects in the region for federal funding, altogether over $200 million in projects annually. The TPB is supported by an MPO staff of fourteen, receives technical advice from the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and alternative transportation recommendations from the Bicycle Mobility Advisory Committee (BMAC) and Pedestrian Mobility Advisory Committee (PMAC).
