MPO Safety Program

Introduction

The greater San Antonio area includes a large network of roadway infrastructure, pedestrian and bicycle facilities as well as a number of potential transit options. Keeping people safe when traveling to their destinations throughout our communities is a priority. Efforts to improve the safety of our residents, reduce the frequency and severity of crashes and provide transportation resources and information have long been underway through the MPO’s Safety Program. The Safety Program exists to further transportation safety awareness, conduct outreach, provide crash data and analysis and assist in coordinating safety efforts across many local jurisdictions.

The AAMPO provides detailed crash data for the MPO region for the previous three years, information on the Walkable Community Program including safety classes, bike rodeos and Walkable Community Workshops, safety tips and facts, committee information including the Bicycle and Pedestrian Mobility Advisory Committees, the Safety Advisory Committee and many other transportation safety related resources.

The MPO and "Vision Zero"

The Alamo Area MPO stands in support of the City of San Antonio's Vision Zero initiative to reduce pedestrian-related fatalities in the Alamo Area. View the AAMPO resolution in support of the initiative.
